Pinterest is a huge help in my day-to-day life, I use stuff from it every single day from recipes to fitness routines to just cool lifestyle ideas. Every week I like to round up a few things that I really liked recently.

I love this idea for when kids get big enough to be interested in helping in the kitchen!

Maybe if I post about exercising, I’ll be inspired to do it… or maybe not.

I adore gingerbread. Have I mentioned that before? It’s my favorite scent, one of my favorite flavors, I just love it. I also love snickerdoodles. Look at these, gingerbread snickerdoodles!

I’m so sick of chicken. I keep trying new recipes in hopes I’ll find one that will make me like chicken again.

I’ve been on a real dress kick on Pinterest lately despite the fact that I won’t be able to wear anything cute like this for a while.

I’ve been writing for a long time and I still don’t feel like I’ve really got character down. Every once in a while I get a good character but I still struggle.

I love this home color palette, and it is very close to the colors we have picked in our house. The bedrooms are basically the blue color, the main living areas and hallways are a light gray, and we plan on painting the bathrooms a light purple.

If I could send this to every single writer I edit, I would. It’s a great simple refresher on dialogue writing rules that they all get wrong.

I’m always looking for homemade snack ideas.

If you have a recipe calling for half and half, don’t buy it! Well, you can, but here are four ways to make it from stuff you might already have. I used the heavy cream and milk technique and it worked great.

Not the most glamorous picture, but I tried this and this recipe is delicious. I love cabbage!

Inspirational:

This sums up my writing so well. I have story ideas in my head but they don’t exist, so I have to write them for myself.

Writer’s rulebook, such great advice!

A great idea for my meal planning notebook I’m working on.

Style:

I adore plaid full skirts!

I pin a lot of dresses but don’t actually wear many in real life. But this one is amazing.

Love this color combo.

Food:

Mustard Greens, Shrimp and Anchovy Pasta. I’m very interested in trying anchovies.

This spinach rice looks so delicious.

I like this alternative to mashed potatoes. Don’t tell my husband it’s beans!

Health and Fitness:

I’ve been doing these three workouts for a week or so, they’re super easy to fit in just a few minutes of exercising in your day.

Inspirational Stuff:

This seems like a fun challenge to get into shape. I will be trying this.

While this seems like a lesson for life, it’s also great advice to write all characters in a story as if they matter.

Love this idea for a page in my bullet journal.

Style:

Gorgeous dress.

I love the contrast of the summery skirt with the black accessories.

This capsule wardrobe has great colors.

Food:

I love enchiladas, I love spinach, this sounds like an awesome dish.

I love this way to put together meals without a recipe.

Fitness Friday – 21 Day Whole 30ish Diet

Whole 30 is a diet that has been all over the place lately. I’ve seen many bloggers reporting on their results and I really love the idea of it. But truthfully, it’s not something I think I can handle.

Whole30RulesIn theory it sounds very healthy, except I don’t agree that dairy, grains, beans and tofu should be cut out.

I also like the idea of the 21 Day Fix diet for portion control. There doesn’t seem to be a list of foods to avoid, so I’ll be using Whole 30’s guidelines. For the month of February I’ll be avoiding processed foods and alcohol, and limiting the rest of the No list. 21 Day Fix Rules

One of my biggest goals for the month of February is limiting sugar along with processed foods, along with trying to get more fruits, vegetables and nutrients in general. I’m attempting to curb my sweet tooth and carb intake. My one cheat will be one piece of chocolate per night max.

It’s definitely going to be a challenge eating more protein and fewer starches and carbs, but I’m going to give it a shot. I’ll be looking for inspiration from Whole 30 and 21 Day Fix recipes and meal plans.

Have you tried either one of these diets? Do you have any favorite recipes?

Fitness Friday – Update Nov 27

It’s been about a month since my last fitness post.

The video is still really working for me. I’ve done it almost every weekday so far, less in the beginning of the month and now it’s just about routine. Not that I don’t still put it off as long as possible though.

I’ve graduated to using a dumbbell in one of the exercises, the Sumo Squat Dumbbell Swing, but not for any of the others yet. It’s a bit heavy. I should look for a smaller, lighter one.

The routine has definitely gotten a little bit easier for me. I can do the Crossover Knee Tuck without shaking as much, and I can complete the whole plank depending on how I feel.

If you’re looking for an easy, quick exercise routine to take up, check it out!

Fitness Friday – November 6

Alright, I kind of fell off the wagon on my exercising goals, but I’m back now.

I’ve been looking for easy workout videos that weren’t too much out of my league, and I think I finally found the one to stick with for now. It’s just a seven minute workout, but it really kicks my butt into gear. It’s perfect for a beginner that’s out of shape, and it’s customizable a bit to make it easier or harder. For example, I don’t use dumbbells just yet, and I modify some of the moves to make them doable but still effective. I hope to work up to doing them as directed. That plank at the end kills me though!

Hopefully I can keep this up and get into shape!
