Grocery Shopping and Meal Plan – August 1

Whew, what a week. My husband took the whole week off for our anniversary so he could have a low-key vacation. Unfortunately, I got sick early on and didn’t feel good for most of the week. Now things are back to normal, thankfully.

Since he was home, we went to the store together and hit both Aldi and Shaw’s back to back for one giant haul on Friday. Here’s what we got for the week.

Aldi haul:

  • Lactose free milk – $2.79
  • Bacon – $3.49
  • Breakfast cookies – $1.99
  • Frozen strawberries – $2.09
  • Danishes – $2.99
  • Hamburger buns – $1.29
  • Diced tomatoes – $0.55
  • Chickpeas – $0.65
  • Rice – $3.29
  • Mushrooms – $1.19
  • Pork sausage – $2.99
  • Slim jims – $2.69
  • Cereal – $1.29
  • Grapes – $2.98
  • Green peppers – $1.29
  • Quick oats – $2.39
  • Ground flax seed – $2.49
  • Milk – $1.49

Total: $37.93

Shaw’s haul:

  • Ginger lemon tea – $2.24
  • Whole wheat spaghetti – $1
  • Shredded mozzarella – $1.25
  • Half-dozen eggs – $1.50
  • Orange juice – $2.50 each
  • Whipping cream – $1.99
  • Sour cream – $1.19
  • Shrimp – $3.99
  • 5 lbs potatoes – $3.49

Total: $21.65

Total for the week: $59.58

We’ve been buying a lot of premade snacks at my husband’s request because he is trying to bulk up and gain a little bit of weight. I plan to experiment more with homemade snacks in the future.
