Grocery Shopping and Meal Plan – July 25

Today is our one year wedding anniversary! It has been a very good year for us, ending with working on buying our first house! Hopefully every year will be just as good. We spent yesterday in Boston to celebrate, visiting the Museum of Science and having a nice dinner.

I had a very large haul this week and got a ton of good food, stocking up. I got a ton of fruits and vegetables, which I can’t always stock up on.

Aldi haul:

  • Greek yogurt – $0.65 each
  • 1/2 gallon of milk – $1.59
  • Baby spinach – $1.99
  • Frozen pepper blend – $1.49
  • Pork sausage – $2.99
  • Turkey hot dogs – $1.49
  • Bowtie pasta – $0.79
  • Diced tomatoes – $0.55 each
  • Frozen strawberries – $2.09
  • Spaghetti – $0.89
  • Blueberries – $1.29
  • Cereal – $1.29
  • Hot dog buns – $1.29
  • Bananas – $1.18
  • Slim jim snacks – $2.69
  • Protein bars – $4.69
  • Mushrooms – $1.19
  • Grapes – $2.98

Total: $33.62

Shaw’s haul:

  • English muffins – B1G2, so I bought 2 packs and got 4 free.
  • Capers – $2.29
  • Protein cookies – $2.99
  • Orange juice – $3.49
  • Ground turkey – 3 lbs for $6
  • Chicken thighs – $3.43
  • Shrimp – $4.99
  • Two potatoes – $1.59
  • Red pepper – $0.99
  • Zucchini – $1.20
  • Lemon – $0.79
  • Blueberries – $1.27
  • Rev wraps – $1.50 each
  • Frozen onions – $1

My store was running its ‘buy 10, get everything for $0.79 sale’ so I got these things:

  • Crushed tomatoes
  • Tomato sauce
  • 4 Chobani greek yogurt tubs
  • 4 bags of frozen vegetables

Total: $52.71, saved $35.32

Total for the week: $86.33

Meal plan:

  • Chicken Piccata – made this on Saturday with the chicken, capers, and lemon. This was so easy and I liked it way more than I thought I would.
  • Sausage, Pepper and Rice – pork sausage
  • Skillet Lasagna – ground turkey, crushed tomatoes
  • Spicy Shrimp Skillet – shrimp, zucchini; usually made with scallops or shrimp and sausage, I’m just making it with shrimp this week.
