Grocery Haul and Meal Plan – March 28

Or, Why I’m Not Sending My Husband Grocery Shopping Again

I got my wisdom teeth out on Friday and I’ve had a long weekend of pain and not being able to eat real food. I’d love nothing more than a great big sandwich as soon as I can stretch my jaw that far and chew without issue.

So on Thursday I did my Friday stuff, doing the laundry and visiting Aldi. I didn’t go to Shaw’s because their deals don’t start until Friday. I tried to get most of what I needed at Aldi but there were a few things I needed at Shaw’s. So I persuaded my husband to go with a very detailed list.

Well, he came back with some stuff.

First, my Aldi haul:

  • Turkey Sausage – $1.99
  • Frozen ravioli – $2.69
  • 5 lbs of potatoes – $2.49
  • Baby bella mushrooms – $1.59
  • Half gallon of milk – $1.29
  • Tub of Greek yogurt – $3.69
  • 1 lb of sour cream – $1.19
  • Two avocados – $0.89 each
  • Wheat bread – $1.39
  • Two green bell peppers – $1.69
  • Frozen blueberries – $2.79
  • Frozen mixed berries – $2.79

Total: $25.37

I got some stuff for dinners as well as things I could eat while I was recovering from my teeth.

My Shaw’s list:

  • Asparagus – $1.27 lb
  • Green beans
  • Baby spinach
  • Orzo
  • Pasta sauce
  • Natural jelly
  • Shredded mozzarella
  • Frozen mango
  • Lactose free whole milk
  • Shrimp
  • Deli meat
  • Orange juice
  • Bananas

What my husband got:

  • Orzo
  • Natural jelly
  • Pasta Sauce
  • Lactose free fat free milk (I didn’t buy it at Aldi because all they had was fat free or 2%)
  • Orange juice
  • Shredded mozzarella
  • Shrimp
  • Green beans
  • Deli meat
  • Pre-trimmed asparagus – $2.99
  • Doritos
  • 2 loaves of bread
  • Ice cream
  • Italian ice
  • Bananas
  • A premade sub sandwich

No frozen mango or baby spinach in the entire store though apparently.

Total: $53.47

Sigh. I guess this is why I do the grocery shopping. Oh well.

My meal plan for the week:
