Thrifty Thursday – Cash Saves Money (also Aldi)

I finally got to Aldi for grocery shopping! Yay! Mainly because I really wanted avocados, and my store was selling them for $1.50 each. Aldi had them on sale for $0.49. Yes, please.

Also, cash. We had some cash from wedding presents stored away still and my husband told me to start using that for grocery shopping. Silly me, I forgot it by the time I got to Aldi, so I had to go home for it before the regular store, but it helped a lot.

Aldi:

I took my regular grocery list to Aldi and grabbed everything from the list that I knew was cheaper than the regular store.

  • Bread – $1.79; It’s usually $2.50 at the cheapest for nice bread at the grocery store.
  • Avocados – 2 for $0.49 each.
  • Gallon of milk – $1.49; We pay $1.99 for a half gallon at the store.
  • Lactose-free milk – $2.79; It’s usually $3.69 at the store.
  • Chickpeas – 2 cans, $0.65 each; usually $1.
  • Spinach – $1.49; I can get it for $1 on sale but usually $1.50 at the cheapest.
  • Tomato paste – $0.39; Probably around $0.50 at the store.
  • Organic bananas – $1.38; Around $2 at the grocery store.
