What I Read Wednesday – Fresh Made Simple by Laura Keiper Stein

Fresh Made Simple

This book will be released on October 20, 2015. I received a copy through NetGalley.

I think this is my favorite cookbook I’ve read so far this year. It’s not a cookbook in a traditional sense, it’s mostly just a little bit of writing and some gorgeous illustrations. The author takes one ingredient and bases a dish around it, which is laid out in a fresh illustration and the bare minimum of instructions.

This is definitely not a cookbook for absolute beginners, but if you have the basics down, I think this is a great way to branch out and start figuring things out. There are barely any measurements for anything, you decide how much of each thing to add to your dish.

A lot of the food combinations are things I never would have thought of or tried, but I’m very interested in trying them now, like a Raspberry Spinach Parfait or a Ricotta Mozzarella Melt, something like a fancy grilled cheese.

Every recipe is made up of only fresh, real food ingredients; this is definitely the book you want if you’re trying to move your diet more in that direction. I really want my own copy of this book to experiment with.
