This book will be released on September 8, 2015 (today!). I received a copy through NetGalley.
Brook has been raised as a princess of Monaco, all the while feeling like she belongs elsewhere. She enlists her best friend, Justin, future duke, to figure out her past. He returns with some surprising news: She could possibly be a baroness, and the sole heiress of Whitby Park.
So Brook embarks on a journey to meet her long-lost father, who has been disillusioned searching for her. Many pretenders had come before her, claiming to be his daughter. When Brook appears, however, he knows she has come home.
Brook is instantly whisked up in her new life of society and intrigue. She has to balance her first Season with learning who she can trust and who is just out to get her money, or something she doesn’t know she owns. An attack is made on her life and the attacker demands she hand over her ‘Fire Eyes’.
Brook, Justin, her father and others must work together to keep her safe and figure out who is leaving the trail of bodies in an attempt to get their hands on a rare treasure.
Pride and Prejudice meets mystery, The Lost Heiress is slow at first but will keep you turning pages to find out what ‘Fire Eyes’ means and if Brook and Justin are ever going to admit that their feelings run deeper than friendship. I rate this book 4/5.
