Tasty Tuesday – Smoked Sausage and Pasta

I haven’t made this in a while but it was always on our list of favorite dishes. It’s a one pot meal, so minimal clean up, plus it’s so tasty. With few, whole food ingredients, it’s decently healthy as well. I’m sure one could contest the healthiness of turkey sausage but as an occasional thing it isn’t bad.

Sliced the sausage and gathered my other ingredients: pasta, diced tomatoes and homemade chicken stock. Not pictured: milk, and cheese (because I was out! Didn’t realize that until I started cooking!)

Lightly browned the sausage in olive oil with a sprinkle of onion powder, because I never buy onions. I was also supposed to add minced garlic here but I forgot. Sunday wasn’t a very good day.

Once the sausage is lightly browned, add in chicken stock, milk, tomatoes and pasta, with some salt and pepper.

Cook until pasta is soft and liquid is reduced down. Add cheese, if you have it. I ended up ripping up a slice of cheese and throwing it on top. It was effective at least.

For the full recipe I used, go here.
