Cinnamon Swirl Yogurt Start-Ups from The Dairy Good Cookbook

On Wednesday, I reviewed the Dairy Good Cookbook and this morning I made this delicious breakfast from it.

First I baked the cinnamon bread for a few minutes in the oven because I read that dry bread makes better French Toast.

While the bread was in the oven, I assembled the rest of the dish. For the batter: milk, eggs and cinnamon.

For the sauce: plain yogurt, orange juice and maple syrup.

After soaking the bread in the egg mixture, I cooked them two at a time. Then I cut each piece diagonally and arranged them on the plate, topped with fresh raspberries and blackberries then poured the yogurt sauce on top.

I was a bit apprehensive of what it would all taste like together, but it was delicious! The berries and the sauce had a bit of a tart flavor but then you taste the cinnamon French toast underneath which brings just enough sweetness. This is by far the fanciest breakfast we have ever had.

I love how wholesome this and the other recipes in the book are, very much real food. If you like cookbooks, you should think about adding this one to your collection. I’m considering getting a hardback copy for myself just for the beautiful pictures.
